The following infographic gives some interesting facts on social media. We often hear that women rule social media, or are better at it. But isn’t it interesting that Pinterest is mostly women while Google Plus is mostly men? Why is that?
Perhaps it is the interface. Pinterest is a bit like scrap booking. Or perhaps it is that Google Plus attracted so many technology-oriented people initially.
Whatever the motivation, it seems that the majority of people use social media to stay in touch with friends and family. After that, it’s just social fun.
So how do you use it for business? Simple! Make it social! Remember you are engaging with people, so just like going to a party, you don’t spend all your time talking about work (or maybe you do – might want to check that at the door to get more party invites!). Social media can be used effectively for business, if you do your target market research!
You need to know a lot about your target audience so that you can engage with them appropriately. Understanding pain points, challenges, and even what makes him or her happy will help you engage more effectively. After all, people do business with people they know, like and trust. They can get to know you on social media – if you let them.
