Marketing Strategy – What Have You Tried?

It’s already June, and while many thoughts are drifting to a well-deserved vacation, it’s also a good time to consider What Have You Tried in your Marketing Strategy, and more importantly, Is It Working?

Annual reviews are not frequent enough to employ an actionable marketing plan. You need to take stock regularly of campaigns, analytics and overall content. Even with that regular review, it’s a good idea to take a moment and consider what you have done so far, and what you want to change or keep the same going forward.

Here are the top 3 areas you want to consider when reviewing your marketing. And to provide you with assistance in the process, we are giving you our What Have You Tried Worksheet. Download this, print it, and take it with you away from your office. You will find that a change of scenery will help get those ideas flowing!

Area 1 – Formal Programs

Consider the formal programs and campaigns you have run over the previous six months. What worked? What didn’t? What could have worked better if…? You want to consider offline, online, and those that are a combination.

Area 2 - Detailed Review

Outline the various campaigns and include parameters such as time frame it ran, goals, who was it directed to, and the results. The Worksheet will certainly help you with this portion of your review.

Area 3 – Brainstorming

Often the fun part, now you can start thinking about what you want to do. Was there something that was so successful you have to keep going? Is there another idea or campaign you want to initiate? Are you a little stuck and not sure what to do going forward? Again, the worksheet will walk you through the process of figure out your best next steps. This includes helping you remember all those amazing campaigns, events or marketing efforts you noticed others doing, and wanted to adapt to your own organization.

You final step will be to review the worksheet and highlight those areas, campaigns and ideas you want to implement going forward. This will help you organize your upcoming marketing efforts, and ensure that you strategy is on track and moving you in the right direction!
